Then and now

It started with one Dutch store in 1932. Now SPAR is the world’s largest food retail chain. 12,322 stores. 34 countries. And in the UK alone, over 2,400 stores, 50,000 friendly staff and a turnover of £3bn+. You could say we’ve come a long way.

Global brand, local touch

We don’t just serve the community, we’re part of it. As SPAR is a ‘symbol’ group, our retailers remain independent while enjoying global brand benefits. And with local initiatives, fundraising, support for local suppliers and farmers, we’re always giving a little back.

Doing the right thing

For nine years we have been helping vulnerable children through our support of the NSPCC and ChildLine. And for the last two years we have been avid supporters of the NSPCC Schools Service, - raising over £4.6m in the process.

Our Values

To us, community is everything. And we’re proud to be a part of it. Our conveniently situated stores are owned and run by locals, for locals. Providing the essentials. Serving with a smile. Supporting local suppliers, schools and charities. There for you. There for everyone.

Whether it’s fresh food, fresh-looking stores or fresh ideas, we always strive to bring you the best. From scrumptious seasonal fruit to locally sourced vegetables to innovative ways to shop and pay - we firmly believe fresh is best.

If you’re not satisfied, neither are we. That’s why quality is at the heart of everything we do. Everything we offer. Everything we stand for. From clean, welcoming stores to our extensive range of food and drink. And it’s why our own-brand range has scooped multiple awards!

We may be just round the corner, but we go the extra mile. Courteous. Friendly. Always open when you need us. Always open to new initiatives like Parcel Service and Apple Pay. We’re part of the community we care about. And we never forget we’re there for you.

SPAR and the Marie Curie

Marie Curie provides care and support for around 2,500 people living with a terminal illness in Northern Ireland each year. They offer expert care and support both at home and in their Belfast hospice.

Every one of us in the Northern Ireland will be affected at some point by a terminal illness. But today one in four people don’t get the care and support they need at the end of their lives.

That’s why we’re partnering with Marie Curie, to help them raise funds so their nurses can be there for families when they need them most.
