“Joy Rollston comes from a family who love farming. Their farm, near the village of Killylea, has been in the Rollston family for three generations, with the fourth generation now learning the ropes.”
Joy works on the farm along with her husband Willie and his father Charlie. Together they have been supplying Armagh’s Rockvale Poultry for 13 years.
The Rollston family take pride in their flock. Joy takes time to walk through the chickens each morning after milking, finding it very therapeutic. Their children - Daniel, Jayne, Stuart and Jack, all have a job on the farm and love to be there when the day olds arrive.
Crowned ‘The Farming Life Woman of Excellence in Agriculture’ in 2015, Joy’s talents know no bounds, as she plans to complement the family farm by establishing a gluten free bakery one day.

“Local pork farmer Robert Park just loves his job. His interest in farming started as a boy on his
father’s dairy farm.”
In 1993, Robert started up his own farm with 20 of his uncles sows. His Ballynure farm is now home to over 300 sows. That still isn’t enough for Robert as he is currently expanding his farm to keep 750 sows.
It’s a tough job, but Robert finds it rewarding, especially when the little piglets are born – sometimes 24 at once - now that’s a brave sow!
