There is a fresh new addition to Portadown with the opening of SPAR Killicomaine, a £3.3 million investment that has also created 30 new jobs for the local area.
Operated by family-run Henderson Retail, the new store has been designed to serve local shoppers with fresh and locally sourced produce, everyday essentials, a Delish deli and a full-service Post Office all under one roof.
Store manager Andrew McAleese said the team is proud to welcome shoppers through the doors and offer a store shaped around the needs of the community.
“It is fantastic to officially open the doors of SPAR Killicomaine and give our neighbours even greater choice and value,” said Andrew.
He continued; “Our store has been designed with our neighbours and community in mind, many of whom I’ve has the pleasure of meeting in the run up to the opening. We are delighted to offer a range of fresh, locally sourced products offering value for tonight’s tea, alongside pre-packed butchery products from The Butcher Shop and Deli, plus food to go from our Delish deli.”
For busy mornings, lunch on the go or an easy bite during the day, the Delish deli offers a wide choice of hot food options. From grab & go protein muffins & wraps, hot meals and sides to pick & mix pots, alongside southern fried chicken fillet burgers, rice and salad boxes, and a create your own sandwich, salad or wrap bar.
At the in-store bakery, shoppers can find everything from pastries to scones, loaves, muffins, and cakes will be baked throughout the day, including the popular range of freshly made donuts, ideal with a Barista Bar coffee for an on-the-go treat.

Andrew added; “We are also proud to offer plenty more every day choice and value for our shoppers with the new SPAR own-brand range, spanning fresh eggs, milk, butter, meat, cheese, pizza, deli products and breads, alongside cupboard staples such as preserves, biscuits, grains, tinned goods, pasta, sweets and crisps.
“Shoppers can also choose from heat-and-eat meals or the black-label ‘Our Ultimate’ range of freshly prepared dishes made by SPAR’s in-house team of cooks, led by Carl Johannesson.”
The SPAR Killicomaine team has been building relationships with local charities, clubs, community groups and foodbanks, underlining a commitment to being part of everyday community life as well as serving it.
Led by Sophie Talbot and Eden Parkes, the team will champion and support what matters to their local area. The duo has already led litter picks to keep surrounding streets clean, while visiting Killicomaine Community Café and Community Fridge to donate food products, getting their hands dirty with the local Project Dig, while supporting sports days and Killicomaine Residents’ Group initiatives.
