Porridge oats 7 ways

Oats are a great source of vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants that help keep us healthy. 

Choco-banana berry

You’ll need:

  • 1 bowl of pre-made porridge oats
  • 1 banana
  • Small chunk of chocolate
  • Handful of blueberries
  • 1 tbsp honey

Method:

Peel and chop the banana into slices and spread over the pre-made porridge. Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds & drizzle over the porridge. Add the blueberries & a drizzle of honey. Top with shaved chocolate

Festive Warmer

You’ll need:

  • 1 bowl pre-made porridge oats
  • 1 orange
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate seeds
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 tbsp grated coconut

Method:

Peel and tear the orange into segments and place on top of the pre-made porridge. Top with the pomegranate seeds, orange zest and grated coconut.

Fresh Berry Bowl

You’ll need:

  • 1 bowl pre-made porridge oats
  • Handful of fresh raspberries
  • Handful of almonds, chopped

Method:

Top the pre-made bowl of porridge oats with the raspberries and chopped almonds.

Nutty Caramelised Nectarine

You’ll need:

  • 1 bowl pre-made porridge oats
  • 1 nectarine, chopped
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup plus extra for serving
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1tbsp cinnamon
  • Handful of pecan nuts, chopped
  • Handful of almonds, chopped

Method:

In a pan over medium heat, add the nectarine slices, cinnamon, maple syrup and butter. Cook for 5 minutes or until the nectarines are soft, stirring occasionally so they don’t stick to the bottom. Once the nectarine mixture has cooked, add on top of the porridge. Top with the chopped pecan nuts, almonds, and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Spiced Pear

You’ll need:

  • 1 bowl pre-made porridge oats
  • 1 ripe pear
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon plus extra to serve
  • Handful of pecan nuts, chopped

Method:

Chop the pear into slices and place on top of the pre-made porridge oats. Top with pecan nuts, a pinch of cinnamon & a drizzle of maple syrup.

Apple Pie Oats

You’ll need:

  • 1 bowl pre-made porridge oats
  • 1 red apple, peeled and chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup plus extra to serve
  • 1 tsp cinnamon plus extra to serve
  • Knob of butter
  • Handful of pecan nuts, chopped

Method:

In a pan over medium heat, add the apple, cinnamon, maple syrup and butter. Cook for 3 minutes or until the apples are soft, stirring occasionally so they don’t stick to the bottom. Once the apple mixture has cooked, add on top of the porridge. Top with pecan nuts, a pinch of cinnamon & a drizzle of maple syrup.

Sweet Peaches

You’ll need:

  • 1 bowl pre-made porridge oats
  • 1 peach (fresh or tinned)
  • Handful of fresh or frozen raspberries
  • Handful of almonds, chopped
  • 1 tbsp honey

Method:

Peel and slice the peach into slices and place on top of the pre-made porridge. Top with the raspberries, chopped almonds and a drizzle of honey.
